The CCLI provides
a blanket license that gives churches permission
to use songs in their program for five specific
activities including:
• Printing songs
in bulletins, liturgies, programs and songsheets
• Printing songs
in bound or unbound songbooks compiled by the church
• Making overhead
transparencies, slides, or to utilize electronic
storage and retrieval methods for visual projection
of songs
• Printing customized
vocal and/or instrumental arrangements of the songs,
where no published version is available
• Recording
songs in church worship services by either audio
or audiovisual means
Many
churches want to use songs and other material in
ways that are not covered by the CCLI license, such
as:
• Making rehearsal
or practice trax
• Printing custom
arrangements where published versions are available
• Custom church
recordings
• Rental or
sale of copies
• Photocopying
or duplicating any choral sheet music (octavos),
cantatas, musicals, handbell music, keyboard arrangements,
vocal solos or instrumental works
• Internet uses
and activities
• Concerts and
performances not qualifying for religious service
exemption
• Showing videos
during religious service
Because
the CCLI license does not cover these activities,
CCA works on behalf of churches to research, negotiate
and obtain licenses and permissions for all these
uses to assure that your church is totally copyright
compliant.
